BDSL want to know what you want

Bradford Disability Sport and Leisure are creating a new provision for young disabled people which will allow parents and carers to have respite. To make sure we are offering the right activities, we would really like to know what you would like your son or daughter to do in that time.

2012 the year of Disability Sport in Bradford- Funding from Comic Relief

 BDSL are pleased to announce new Junior Sports Academy for Disabled People (8-18yrs) starting in January at NabWood Sports Centre. The Club will run every Saturday from 11am-1pm and will link in specifically with our other clubs across the district and the local, regional and national special Olympic competition structure.

This club will be one of a number of new clubs in 2012  that will extend the support young people in Bradford will get in accessing  accessing high quality sports provision in Bradford.

BDSL Transport Service

Bradford Disability Sport & Leisure (BDSL) have have recently expanded their transport service across the district.
BDSL purchased a new 16 seater fully accessible mini-bus to add to thier fleet and can also provide drivers and escorts for Voluntary Community Organisations.

Athletes meet Lord Mayor

On Thursday 28 July, the Bradford Disability Sports & Leisure athletes were invited to go meet the Lord Mayor. This was in order to celebrate the amazing success that our athletes had in Athens in the Special Olympics.

The 4 Bradford based participants performed fantastically, but this feat would not have been possible if it wasnt for all our sponsors and colleagues' help. So please give them your support.

Annual Dinner 2011

On Friday 28th October, Bradford Disability Sports & Leisure held their annual Charity Ball. This was to raise money for disabled people in the Bradford area to take part in Sport & Leisure. Quite alot turned up in fancy dress. The event raised over £1,500 so thank to all who helped and gave to the cause.

Bradford Athletes a success in Athens

The 4 Bradford athletes have all done fantastically , but without the great support from the local authority ;private sponsors;  friends and colleagues their achievements wouldn’t be possible!

Athletes arrive in Athens for 2011 World Special Olympic Games.

Yorkshire and Humberside athletes

Athletes and their coaches have arrived in Greece for the Special Olympics World Summer Games.

Bradford’s representatives in the 157-strong Great Britain team are power-lifting coach Kelly Moore, bowler Robert Burnett, golfer Benjamin Horner, powerlifter Nigel Halliday and basketball player James Horsfall.

The Special Olympics World Summer Games are billed as the biggest sporting event in the world in 2011.

BDSL Charity Ride 2011- Shipley t'dales!!
