Hamm Athletes Return To Celebrate The 10th Anniversary!
Athletes from our twin town Hamm Germany have returned for the celebration of the 10th anniversary with our Bradford Athletes and Footballers.
The trip was organised for the Athletes from Hamm to experience sporting events and enjoy the sights of Bradford.
Children with disabilities took part in the Athletics Competition at Horsfall Stadium, Bradford. The event was incredibly enjoyed by the athletes and the crowd of supporters of which included the Oberburgermeister of Hamm, Thomas Hunsteiger – Petermann.
Chairman Hilary White said, “It was a fantastic event. It’s great to see the partnership working so well and we are looking forward to working with Hamm delegation for the next ten years. It is good to realise what sport can do to bring people from different countries together”.
On Tuesday 24th May there was a social event for both Hamm and Bradford Athletes and Supporters to celebrate the 10th anniversary. The city of Hamm kindly donated a replica of an Elephant that signifies the importance of Bradford and Hamm through sport. It was an eventful evening with the new Lord Mayor Naveeda Ikram in attendance with Hamm’s Oberburgermeister Thomas Hunsteiger – Petermann. The evening was enjoyable and successful for all who attended and hopefully there will be more celebrations to come in the near future.
The trip was enjoyed by all who took part and has further enhanced the bond that the two cities have. BDSL would like to thank Bradford Council for there support towards this trip.
